If you found your way to this page, there is clearly a reason for your arrival. Perhaps you consider it random or accidental – But, if you are reading these words, then you (sub)consciously desire some basic human programming. Allow me to quench your desire for guidance.
Before we get to the list, let’s think about what an awesome privilege it is whenever you can find a middle-aged white guy getting preachy on the internet. Especially when they are hypocritical about a lot of the advice they are dispensing. Well, you my friend have just hit the jackpot! So, get out your mental notebooks and let the learning begin.
It’s all pretty simple really, just stop hurting yourself and others.
Yes, yes I know your parents and peers did it to you growing up, and it’s the only way you know to solve your problems. But, let’s go ahead and buck that trend, and put a halt to the whole being a raging asshole thing. And what better day than today to stop?! This includes things like :
Smoking, over eating/drinking, over indulgence in narcotics/sex/stimulation, emotional abuse, violence/physical abuse, endangering others, etc…..
It’s a pretty obvious and simple list, but it’s probably going to be rough going cold turkey. Maybe starting by just not drinking and driving, or skipping that value meal at McDonald’s. Then you can move on to some of the behemoths like not having 6 kids when you can’t even care for one, or avoiding casual participation in a group beat down of a kid half your size.
I believe in you. You can do it. You just have to want it bad enough. So stop acting like you are some autonomous, sentient, spiritual being, and start embracing the conformist, affirmation-seeking, sack of evolutionary pre-programmed flesh you were born to be and…
