Nathan For You (TV Show)

Genius at work.

Genius at work.

Nathan For You  flew under my radar for a long time. I did briefly hear about the show’s existence after the fallout from the Dumb Starbucks stunt. But, the first episode I ever actually saw was the season 2 finale – and it did not disappoint. Immediately after popping my Nathan cherry, I went online and binge watched every single episode. I rarely actually bust out laughing at a TV show, but Nathan For You precisely drilled into the marrow of my funny bone.

Nathan Fielder hosts the show and plays a character who approaches small businesses with ideas for improvement that consistently toe the line between creatively practical and purely insane. To stay in character and maintain composure during his many rage filled confrontations with participants oblivious to their own hilarity, takes the same kind of Sacha Baron Cohen size balls and poker face to pull off.

Nathan consistently sets up these interactions with incredibly bizarre individuals, and proceeds to goad them into the best reactions and outbursts imaginable. The show is essentially, a very clever series of pranks where the joke isn’t revealed to the participants until the show airs months later.

Nathan, thank you.

Nathan, thank you.

There are a plethora of scenes that I just can’t seem to get enough of. One of the all time greatest moments happened during the “Ghost Realtor” episode. “Wait, a ghost choked you in Switzerland?” doesn’t sound like much of a quote, but in context, it is perhaps one of the funniest lines I’ve ever heard. Check it out below……

Within each episode there are at least three moments of absolute comedic gold. I don’t think writing any more recap or raving incessantly for another few paragraphs will do them much justice. So instead, I advise you to go check them out for yourself.
